Salix genus has species which contain salicylates that can cause gastrointestinal bleeding & kidney damage. Avoid during pregnancy & using with other aspirin-like drugs. Care in patients with asthma, diabetes, gastrosis, gout, haemophilia, liver conditions, low thrombocytes, nephrosis, peptic ulcer. Toxicity can be potentiated by alcohol, barbiturates & sedatives.
