Cautions

Lupinus genus has some species which may contain quinolizidine alkaloids which can be teratogenic. Seeds may cause vomiting in adults & intoxication in children with cardiac arrythmias, diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, double vision, headache, salivation & prickling sensations. Toxicity reported as being reduced by soaking seeds overnight, discarding water & changing water during cooking.
